Encounter an amazing array of dinosaurs in this exciting new exhibition at the Australian Museum!
The world of dinosaurs is brought to life with skeletons, life-size recreated models, skulls, teeth, claws and hundreds of other fossils. Learn how new discoveries and latest technology are changing our understanding of these fascinating creatures.
In an impressive line-up of stars you will meet some old dinosaur favourites such as Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus rex and see for the first time in Australia the 228 million year old Eoraptor; the bird-like Bambiraptor; and the amazing Jobaria - a 22m long sauropod (long-necked plant eater) rearing to a whopping 10m.
Feathered dinosaurs from China, the intimidating Chasmosaurus with massive frill and horn, and the bizarre Cryolophosaurus all make an appearance.
This exhibition also offers a fascinating insight into dinosaurs found in our own backyard. Australian highlights include a skeleton of the 7m long plant-eating Muttaburrasaurus; a life-size model of Minmi - an armored dinosaur from Queensland and the Australian Museum’s own unique opalised fossil collection.
A recreated scene from Australia’s ancient past tells the story of a deadly encounter between a small herbivorous dinosaur and two hungry carnivores, played out under spectacular polar lights.
Relive the fear, panic and drama of a dinosaur stampede in a life-size animation. This dramatic scene took place on the shores of a lake in Queensland 95 million years ago when a large carnivore stalked a group of herbivores and started a stampede.
Sharpen your paleontology skills in the working lab where real fossil material will be on display alongside the tools of the trade. Follow the journey of our Centrosaurus fossils from the badlands of Canada into the Dinosaur exhibition where they are now being excavated and prepared for display.
