Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras!

It's birthday time at New Mardi Gras – we're turning 30 and intend to make the 2008 season one to remember.

9 February 2008 – 1 March 2008

Mardi Gras has grown to become a major cultural event and its appeal stretches well beyond Sydney's gay community and its close supporters. Recently listed amongst the top ten most spectacular costume events by Conde Nast, Sydney's Mardi Gras rivals those in Venice and Rio!

Fair Day - 17 Feb 08

Sydney's big gay day in the park! Live entertainment, delicious food, a drink, a dance and a browse of the stalls is what Fair Day is all about.

Mardi Gras Parade - 1 March 08

Beginning at the Hyde Park end of Oxford Street, our night time Parade is the jewel in our crown. With its unrivalled reputation for glitz, glamour, satire and sass, it's a celebration of pride and diversity that never forgets to deliver its messages with humour and pizazz. Over half a million Sydneysiders turn out each year to cheer on the parade. Joining them are thousands of overseas visitors lining the route - from US circuit party boys to Japanese office ladies.

Mardi Gras Party 08 - 1 March

Go straight from the parade to the party with thousands of other partygoers. The Mardi Gras Party has played host to some of the biggest names in entertainment. Truly a recipe for the most colourful night in the world gay calendar.

City of Sydney is proud to be a Major Partner of 2008 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.
