Centennial Parklands


Centennial Parklands, located just 5km from Sydney's CBD, offers a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Centennial Parklands features 189 hectares of parklands consisting of open fields, forests, sporting fields, ponds and wildlife, transversible by cycling and walking tracks.

The Parklands accommodates family, romantic and friendly outings and with ample space in natural surrounds is ideally located for picnickers (home to approx. 15,000 trees for shade), sports and fitness activities, bird and nature watchers, families, equestrians, diners and dogs.

Federation Valley is a popular area for dog walkers who meet in the mornings and afternoons on their daily walkies, featuring a dog wash for when your favourite four-legged friend has had too much fun off-leash (please visit the Centennial Parklands website for off-leash areas and conditions). There is also dog training sessions run by Eastern Suburbs Dog Training on Sunday mornings (from puppy school to agility superstars).

For those wishing to take a leisurely walk or for you healthy joggers, Centennial Park offers a 3.7 km circular walking track. For a more challenging workout the perimeter of the park has a range of cross country, hilly terrain for joggers. for cyclists, the Grand Drive features a marked bike track.

Football and soccer fields are available for teams to train or compete in.

A network of ponds and islands throughout the Parklands offer sanctuary for birds and birdwatchers alike, with nesting places for migratory, nomadic and resident birds species. Each breeding season you can view swans and their cygents, but make sure not to get too close to disturb them nor feed them.

After strolling through the Parklands, many visitors have worked up an apetite, which is why the Centennial Park restaurant, cafe and kiosk are a popular meeting place for friends and for a quiet snack or beverage. Dogs can be tied up outside with water bowls provided.

The Equestrian Centre is perfect for horse and pony lovers. Drop in for a visit to see the animals or take a horse out for a lesson or ride.

The last Sunday of each season is a dedicated Car Free Day with internal roads closed to cars. To ensure an undisturbed cycling or jogging experience that is ideal for younger cyclists without any car traffic.

The ideal safe space for kids to learn to ride a bike is the Learners Cycleway, a one-way surfaced loop track with an adjoining amenities block, barbecue and children's playground.
