Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp)


Whether you are new to theatre or are something of an old hand, want to come for a laugh or get down to business, atyp has something to offer for you.

When you become a part of atyp you join an annual cast of thousands of other young people all inspired to Rise Up and Act.

Since 1963, atyp has become Australia's leading youth theatre company. atyp is your company, dedicated to young people aged 3-26 yrs and connecting you with your kind of people right across the city and the country.

We offer a place to imagine, create, have fun and get active. We believe that everyone has something to offer and everyone has something to gain from coming to atyp and we offer experiences for everyone, whatever you want to be.

Here you have the choice of expert tutors, choice of disciplines, choice of short or long courses and a choice of venues right across Sydney and beyond. atyp works hard to offer affordable workshops and productions with the best professional tutors from across Australia: we have discounts for early booking, special membership rates and free scholarship places.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

We are not a school but rather an extended theatre family, which has provided opportunities and kick started careers for some of our famous Alumni; Nicole Kidman (atyp patron), Baz Luhrmann (atyp Ambassador), Toni Collette, Rose Byrne, Abi Cornish, Michael Gow and newcomer Alyssa McClelland, to name a few.

It's a place where the journey you take offers amazing experiences, develops performing and life skills and forms life long friendships.
