Russian Resurrection Film Festival 2018

Russian Resurrection Film Festival and Event Cinemas have announced a series of special monthly screenings in Sydney to celebrate the 15-year anniversary of Russian Resurrection Film Festival this year.

The screenings will take place at Event Cinemas George Street kicking off with Andrey Zvyagintsev's 2018 Oscar nominated film Loveless on 25th March and Konstantin Fam's captivating new holocaust drama Witnesses on 29th April.

'2018 marks the 15-year anniversary of Russian Resurrection Film Festival and we are thrilled to be celebrating this exciting milestone with some special screenings in the lead up to our national festival in November. We are very pleased to be launching the monthly screenings with Andrey Zvyagintsev's highly anticipated new film Loveless,' says Russian Resurrection Film Festival Director Nicholas Maksymow.

'Loveless earned rave reviews at Cannes last year, topping the Screen International jury poll as best of the festival. The film then went on to be recognised by the 2018 Academy Awards with an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film,' adds Nicholas Maksymow.

'Event Cinemas looks forward to showcasing more Russian cinema to Australian audiences this year' said Anthony Kierann, General Manager Film Festivals, Australian Cinema and Programs.

'We are delighted to be partnering with Russian Resurrection Film Festival again in 2018. A wonderful celebration of the rich and diverse tapestry of Russian culture and cinema, the festival attracts larger and more diverse audiences each year. We congratulate Russian Resurrection Film Festival on its 15-year anniversary and look forward to bringing more of the latest and best Russian films to audiences across Australia.'

Andrey Zvyagintsev's award-winning drama Loveless, about a struggling marriage, missing child and country in crisis, is one of the must-see Russian films of 2018.

Witnesses, screening on 29th April, is a simple, yet powerful moving trilogy, depicting the horrors of the Holocaust. Each story in the film provides an unusual, yet harrowing perspective on the tragic events during World War II, told from the perspective of three uncanny witnesses.

Russian Resurrection Film Festival special screenings will be held at Event Cinemas George Street (505-525 George St, Sydney NSW 2000)

• Loveless - Sunday 25th March at 3.30pm
• Witnesses - Sunday 29th April at 3.30pm
