Calling all rockstars in the making - it's never too late to learn. Roland Australia has partnered with Young Henrys to bring you Beats & Brews on Sunday 31 May at Newtown's most beloved brewery.
It's a hands-on drumming experience designed for absolute beginners, curious kids and those who've always wanted to start but never knew where to begin.
Jump behind a selection of Roland electronic kits - in just 10 minutes with instructor Simon you'll be playing along to classic rock beats. Nagging his parents since he could walk, Simon Ayton got hooked on drumming early and finally got his first kit at the age of 11 and never looked back.
It's the perfect chance to see if drumming clicks for you, or to find out whether the kids have a hidden talent worth nurturing. Plus, in partnership with Melodics, you can try interactive, Guitar Hero inspired lessons and gameplay, including the Blast Beat Challenge, where technique takes a back seat and it's all about speed: see how many kits you can smash through in 60 seconds.
On display will also be a state-of-the-art drumkit replica kit that Josh Freese plays - known for his work with legendary bands like the Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses and The Offspring - which you can step behind, take in up close and snap a photo with.
All attendees on the day will be in the running to win some seriously impressive prizes - including merch and personalised drumsticks with your initials on them, Young Henrys gear and beer giveaways.
'With Roland V Drums playing drums is easier than ever and a fantastic way to destress, get some exercise and enjoy playing along to your favourite songs. We're excited to partner with Sydney's favourite brewery Young Henry's, to give people a go playing the drums. We'll get you playing a Rock beat in just 10 minutes' - David Whitehead at Roland
Brought to you by Roland, whose impact on music is undeniable - from the 808 drum machine that shaped hip hop, to the 909 that powered house and techno, to the BOSS DS-1 pedal that Kurt Cobain ran through his rig at Nirvana's peak. And Young Henrys, a proudly independent and Australian owned, community-focused brewery - Newtown icons who like it LOUD!
