Zig Zag Railway offers authentic steam train rides from Sydney to Blue Mountains.

The Great Lithgow Zig Zag first opened in 1869 as part of the Western Railway line that linked Sydney with Western New South Wales. This railway line was used to transport people and produce from the western plains of NSW to and from Sydney.

Free parking for cars and coaches, wheelchair-accessible amenities, picnic and BBQ areas, and scenic bushwalks - all signposted from Chifley Road and the highway.

Getting There

By Car

The Zig Zag Railway is an easy stop on your way to or from Lithgow. To make it even easier, we have lots of parking, a great cafe, a shop filled with mementos, and bushwalks nearby. Look out for the signs on Chifley Road and the Highway.
